Portland Phoenix
The Portland Phoenix Super-20 Team will
be at the top of the MPS Development Pyramid for 2009.
This team will comprised of the best local, national and
international U20 players.
USL SUPER-20 LEAGUE
The only U20 men’s and women’s North
American amateur league lives in the USL Super-20
League. Created in 2006, the league provides the
opportunity for the top 17-20 year olds to compete in
high-level competition, as well as affords the
opportunity to establish a reserve team system for the
Premier Development League and W-League teams. The 2009
campaign will features teams competing in four
conferences, consisting of 8-10 regular season matches
throughout the summer months culminating in the National
Finals the first weekend in August.
The
Portland Phoenix will also play a few Exhibition games
in 2009, against PDL opposition, with the view of
entering the prestigious New England Division of the U23
PDL League in 2010.
MPS Portland
Phoenix will be holding try-outs for the Super-20 Team
on March 15th, from 3pm-4pm (players should
arrive 30 minutes early to warm up and register) at the
Portland Sports Complex (www.portlandsportscomplex.com).
